This program is open to students who have already earned their first professional degree (Master of Divinity or its equivalent) either at SBC or another school. The purpose of the doctoral program is to equip students for the practice of their vocation or ministry at a high level of professional competence.

These programs are offered only to individuals who demonstrate the highest competence, dedication, and potential for excellence.

Admission Requirements:

1. Application and non-refundable application fee.

2. Official transcripts from every other college or seminary attended.

3. Master of Divinity or its equivalent.

4. Current resume.

*All students may advance at their own rate of progress.

Doctoral Programs Offered:

1. THE DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.) program is the highest degree program offered by this institution and requires the completion of extensive research in related area of study (24.00 semester credit hours). Doctoral candidates for this program also complete a doctoral dissertation of 40,000 words on an assigned subject and the student must be prepared to defend the dissertation before a panel of faculty members.

2. THE DOCTOR OF MINISTRY (D. Min.) program offered requires the completion of a thesis of 20,000 words (MLA style) from no more than 13 sources or a ministry project, its written report and the completion of 20.00 semester credit hours. The D. Min. program offers degrees in the following disciplines: Pastoral Ministry, Pastoral Counseling, Christian Counseling, Biblical Studies, Divinity, Missions, Outreach & Evangelism, Theology, Christian Education, Religious Studies, Sacred History, Church History, Church Administration and other areas not listed here.

3. THE DOCTOR OF THEOLOGY (Th.D.) program offered requires the completion of extensive theological studies including research in manuscript evidence (24.00 semester credit hours). Candidates for this program are required to complete a doctoral dissertation of 30,000 words on an assigned subject and the student should be prepared to defend the dissertation before a panel of faculty members.
